The closest thing I am aware of is what frat someone belonged to at Morehouse and Morris Brown or Clarke Atlanta....that's a big deal apparently....and what Prince Hall lodge one belongs too....

It’s the truth. I hate being like that but it’s absolute fact.

Believe it or not, Houston (proper and metro area) has invested a ton in new transit the past 20 years and its paying off.

by transit, do you mean highways and couple of bus rapid transit lines no one uses?

TXdot only cares about moving cardo; right, wrong or indifferent. Our highway infrustration is about getting people to burbs and getting product out of the port.

Uber/rideshare has made getting around town way easier than it was. No matter how much redditors melt about, there is no rail project that will happen here. Cost too much and the state will never pony up.

Downtown? Don't get out much, huh. If it was after about 6 PM it was like a ghost town Monday - Friday unless something was going on.....

Not sure if good or bad, but Houston is a great example.

Cool, now include the south side, Alief-Clodine, West Oaks, Holly Park, Greenbriar, etc. Shitholes, all. A bunch of yuppies in the Heights and oil/medical money in Rice, Bunker Hill etc., doesn't make up for all the trash I can see out of my office window, and have driven through repeatedly.

As for ATL, subtract Cobb and North Fulton, and the percentage of whitey drops like a rock. A bunch of liberal whitey live in DeKalb, but they're not exactly floating in money outside of their equity in their way too expensive craftsman shitboxes.

It helps to have several Fortune 500 companies based there. Delta, Coke, Home Depot, UPS, Southern Company, Aflac, Assurant, Norfolk Southern, and Newell Brands.

16 total of the fortune 500 are headquartered in Atlanta. Somewhere in the top 4 of cities in the US with the most fortune 500 headquarters. 70% of the Fortune 1000 have a "significant" (Fortune's term) presence in Atlanta making it the second most in the nation behind New York.

I agree with this. But historically the Black middle class tends to be a bit more tolerable than the rest. Historically what they touch goes to hell at a slightly slower rate. Unfortunately only a minority of Blacks are middle class.

And NO East Black middle class was honestly decent until the lower income Blacks moved in. But that's the thing. Lower income Blacks always follow the middle class ones. And it's really not the social class that's the problem it's more so the culture. Black culture as a whole has taken a major shift in the wrong direction these last 25 years ... it's literally a death culture ... death spiritually and physically. The Black middle class used to be more respectable but now most of them act like ghetto hoodrats just with more money and education

Mainly because Atlanta has really well regarded colleges. Ga Tech, UGA, Emory, GSU, Spelman, Morehouse, SCAD, Kennesaw State ... these schools perform better than average. New Orleans should probably get their colleges to perform at a higher level like Atlanta. Tulane has even slipped in rankings. Tulane used to be a top 50 school, now it's barely top 100.

Georgia Tech is a MASSIVE source of revenue in Metro Atlanta, the state and the region.....I like nothing better than cussing the North Avenue Trade School but it is the real deal when it comes to driving revenue for the area....

Much of Atlantas middle class black population came from New Orleans middle class blacks who left in droves during the 1970’s to move to Atlanta for black prosperity. Economic and job opportunities were plentiful and that was the beginning of the downfall of New Orleans.

Atlanta has industry.

New Orleans ain’t got shite but food, getting wasted and leaving town, and the occasional sporting event.

It’s a dying failed city. Just an adult amusement park housing the support staff.

and for some reason New Orleans still has 18 million visitors a year

2023: 17.8 million domestic tourists.
2022: 17.36 million domestic tourists.
2021: Around 16.81 million domestic tourists.
2020: Approximately 12.67 million visitors (a 38% drop due to the pandemic).
2019: 20.36 million visitors.
2018: 18.5 million visitors.

You can basically double your salary moving from NOLA to Atlanta working in IT. Jobs exist but they're not "good."

I'm sorry but being able to drink on the streets and look at old buildings isn't a good enough "draw."
I get you guys are passionate about your "culture" but most people just want to live in a place where they can find a decent job and have a decent quality of life.
