When people stop financing vehicles they can't really afford then we may see a change.

When morons stop paying $1000/month for 84 months so their wife can ride around in a fully loaded Yukon XL and Q7s

Agreed. What is the point of buying new?

I'll continue buying the bare bones models. Why the heck should I care about having navigation or all of the crazy bells and whistles when my phone basically does everything now anyways.

this all happened bc Big Brother got into the vehicle business (cash for clunkers)

I can't believe destroying some sub $5k vehicles 10 years ago is driving new car prices today but I've been wrong before

They can only extend the financing period so far before they get to where a jalopy is still under finance. 7 years is a stretch as it is.

I laugh at that shite. Buy a one year old used car for 30% off the price.

Not the case for Jeep Wranglers. Their resale value is high. I just looked up 2014 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Saharas for sale...many of them selling for 29-33K.

I bought mine brand new for 34K.

With advancements in car and engine tech new cars have the longest lifespan than they ever have (on top of all the digital tech integrated into them)

Less cars being sold and less used cars in the market is causing a lot of it

Can your phone keep your arse warm during the winter and cool during the summer? Massage your back? Let you know when someone is in your blind spot?

Id agree with you except the workforce is becoming less and less unionized.

I honestly couldn't give a shite about seat warmers/coolers, and I've never owned a vehicle with blind spot detectors yet I'm somehow still alive.

Not really. Used vehicles, especially full sized trucks are holding their value pretty well.

I will say that I very seldom actually use the navigation in my Jeep. If I would have known how clunky Uconnect is(at least in 2014 Jeeps) I would have saved some $$ and gotten one without navigation. So he has a point at least when it comes to getting a vehicle with navigation.

Seriously...I use google maps more and have a phone mount on my dash because Uconnect sucks so badly

However, other added features are nice and worth the money. Remote start of my car...love it. Towing package already included...yes please(and have already used it).

You seen used truck prices? I intended to buy a used truck, but the same truck at 3 years 45-50k Miles was like $3k cheaper than a brand new one with a brand new warranty after rebates.

shite, I’m convinced used Tacomas must actually appreciate.

A Jeep is just not a 50k vehicle.

They are marketing them towards moms and families and turning them into luxury SUVs. It's a shame

Just bought a brand new Nissan Pathfinder for the wife for 27k. Free three year maintenance plan included. I’m pretty happy with what we paid.
There are cheaper options out there.

I feel like my generation (millennial) is playing a role in this. It seems like a lot of people prioritize having a nice vehicle over things like owning a house or contributing to a 401k. And since they have never purchased a vehicle themselves before, they have no reference for what is a good price on a vehicle.

A few years ago, a buddy of mine’s girlfriend was talking about getting a new vehicle when she finished nursing school. Her current vehicle was fine. She just wanted a new one. “It’s 35k. That’s not that bad.” Just LOL.
