Last time I bought furniture I was about to write a check when he told me two years interest free. I'd have been stupid not to do it.

My question is what exactly will happen to these manufacturers (particularly Ford and GM) when the economy slows just a little and high priced trucks and SUV sales collapse? Neither company has a big lineup of affordable cars. They are both pushing "big and expensive" vehicles for obvious reasons.
They'll get a bailout from the government. Because they have learned nothing.
Also, cars have gotten bigger. You can get a Kia Forte for much cheaper than you could get an Accord back in the day. "Compacts" like that have grown to be the size of the Accords/Camry's of 15/20 years ago.
And 60-70k for a half ton pickup? GTFO. I'll never spend that kind of money. The F150 averages 13k inn profit--and that includes the bare bones models. What's that say? There's a damn sucker born every minute.
I bought a 99 XLT with a V6, manual transmission, and extra cab for 18k. What's going on today is bat shite crazy and I hope it implodes on them.

I do what I can to pay in full immediately. Less monthly payments are better for me. Just a personal thing.

I would have been open to financing but I got the entire set including delivery and setup for the same price that my ex wife paid for her memory foam mattress (which was also included in this purchase). The fewer monthly payments the better for me for the next 24 months which is when my payments to the ex stop.

So, what you're saying is that you traded up for a new model and are paying out of the nose because you just couldn't stand riding the old one one moment longer?

Not exactly. I bailed on a meth and heroin addict and am still flipping the bill because divorce laws are fricked. But I’m pretty happy with my upgrade.
If you want to ride her she would definitely give you a shot to get her next fix. Let me know if you’re interested.

I’ve bought my last 3 cars used and they were 3 years old. I just can’t make myself finance that much.
I like having my cars paid for. It’s crazy to me to buy a 50k truck or 45k average vehicle.

Thankfully not but I raised her daughter and she’s probably coming move in with me now that I’m back stateside. Poor girl’s real mom and dad are both addicts. I’m happy to be here for her.

That's everything these days. Nobody knows how to drive standard anymore.
fricking millennials.
I borderline stole a manual from a dealer about two years ago. The deal was so absurd that after everything was signed and completed I was basically like "so wtf man" as I was convinced the thing must've been repossessed or something.
He basically said that they still get an allotment of standards from the factory each couple months and they can't even give them away.

Bought my wife an Explorer in November after her Buick turned 7 years old with 165k Miles. Figured we’ve save a few bucks by buying the ford instead of the Buick. 51k for a fricking explorer!!

Adjusting for inflation, passenger cars seem to have gotten about 15-20% less expensive than their counterparts from 25 or so years ago. This is probably due to advanced engineering techniques and automation/computerization.
Trucks and SUVs have gotten 20-30% more expensive than their counterparts from the past. This is due to demand and cheap gas!
My folks factory-ordered a suburban back in the day. They wanted something basic, but the combination of options they needed were tough to find. Accounting for inflation, a suburban today, optioned the same way, stickers for almost exactly $10,000 more. And there really isn't that much more to them. The old one had the same 5.3L engine, ABS, etc. The new one has improved engineering and a few more airbags, that's it.

Less cars being sold and less used cars in the market is causing a lot of it

Let me just call bullshite. I went shop 4Runners three weeks ago for my wife. An equipped 4Runner with leather is 42-45K. That’s no joke.
he said SR5. The sticker on an SR5 premium with leather is only about 38 now. You might have been looking at the limited.

Keeping up with the Jones' is overrated. However, retiring earlier is not
