Precisely. If I didn't live in the Garden District in BR, I'd probably have a wayyyy shittier outlook on the city. Actually, I know I would. I pretty much hate every part of BR that isn't Garden District/Downtown/Hundred Oaks/LSU area.

Fair enough. I respectfully disagree.
When I was in my mid 20's I lived in BR and loved it. Stayed there until about 30. Since living in NOLA, Houston and a even year in Houma, I personally would never want to move back to BR. Other than 7 weekends in the Fall.

Just curious, have you lived anywhere other than BR? Not visiting, but lived somewhere, say more than 2 months?
Yeah, lived in New Orleans for 2 years.

Mileage is not a good comparison considering the traffic.
I agree. Except that Houston traffic is much better than Baton Rouge traffic, given that all of the roadways here are equipped to handle it.

Typically takes me 45 minutes from door to door woodlands to Houston. It used to take me an hour door to door BR to NOLA.
Not sure where you lived in Baton Rouge and where you were going in Nola. My parents live in Shenandoah and I drive back and forth to the Superdome or Mardi Gras or whatever and its always 1 hour 15 minutes.
Woodlands maybe 35-40 minutes. I mean no matter how you look at it, I would say that Woodlands to downtown Houston is about half the drive as Baton Rouge to New Orleans.

No, it couldn't.
Why the frick not, all it would take is someone with Norco (or whatever company it is that's building all this shite in LC) with deep pockets and a good business mind to start developing the huge tracks of undeveloped property in south LC.

Living in The Woodlands with relation to Houston is like living in Prairieville with relation to BR. You don't live there for the young professional, going out on a regular basis life. You live there to settle down and raise a family. And with that holding true, this entire topic was BS hahaha

Headed that way. Fast.

Can they build an international airport within 15 miles of Lake Charles?

Absolutely and I even said this in so many words earlier. I personally know that The Woodlands is a great place to raise kids. My whole point was that I'm pretty sure that, in my current state, I would be very bored in The Woodlands.

Can't argue with that. Did anyone actually even address the topic?

Meh, they have tollways to take that make it better. Depends on what time of do you leave.
When I drive in to Baton Rouge at 4 PM on a weekday, there is no worse traffic anywhere in the world than from a few miles outside of Lobdell until you cross the bridge.
That includes morning or afternoon rush hour traffic in Houston. Westside or Northside

I have not had that experience. I guess its a product of when I was traveling and the places within the respective cities im headed to

Could BR be The Woodlands? No. I think consensus would say no because The Woodlands is a suburb. The question should have been could Baton Rouge ever be Houston? And that answer would probably also be a no. But if you are looking for great smaller venues and a great bar scene, check out midtown in Houston. I listed all the music venues earlier in the thread.

To each their own, but I don't really know how anyone could debate that.
Mileage from Woodlands to Downtown Houston - 30-35 miles.
Mileage from Baton Rouge to Nola - 70-75 miles.
Time from Woodlands to downtown Houston - 35-40 minutes
Time from Baton Rouge to Nola - 1 hour 15 minutes.

The only thing as bad as this is Atlanta where 75, 85, and 20 all meet. Those are the worst two traffic scenarios I have ever been in.

You've never met the 59/288/45 split at rush hour I see

Is there a difference in average driving time if you leave BR@ 7pm at Siegen heading to Midcity and leaving BR @ 4pm at the capitol and heading to Algiers?
Both are trips from BR to NOLA and I would suggest one trip is significantly longer.

Been there many times. Came north on 45 from 610 on my way to Tomball this past weekend. It is sluggish but moves and does not come down to 1 friggin lane.

Definitely a no at this point. Turn back the clock about 40 or years and assassinate Edwin Edwards and all his cronies and maybe we could have a decent discussion on this one.
