I don’t about everything. There are some things where I am deservedly arrogant about.

But there are plenty of things that are like “wait, you think I’m even close to being capable of that.”

And then I somehow don’t fall flat on my face and I don’t know how.

I don't know if its "imposter syndrome", but I feel very often that my job is a complete farce and everyone is just playing along so we all get paid

There’s a me banging your wife joke in here somewhere but I’m too busy banging your wife to think of it right now.

Everyone does to an extent. Deep down we all know "fake it til you make it" is a real thing.

I’m envious of jobs like that because like we get so much pressure on us. “Don’t frick up or we will ruin your career. If you have free time, here’s more work that needs to get done.”

Hell no. I've been intentionally faking it until I make it for the last 10 years.

No. I've gotten way too arrogant.

No, but the person whose identity I assumed probably suffered from it.

Oh, we get pressure put on us.

But I just think its all being invented in order to justify our jobs and that deep down, we all know this is bullshite.

But no one wants to admit it.

Constantly.

And I’m good friends with a guy at the executive level in my company who has it a lot worse than me.

Don't tell him I told you, but 777 isn't even a licensed pilot. He flies like he's Frank Abagnale but it's just for the suit and women.

You've put into words what I've felt my entire adult life. Has to be a simulation.

I have rampant imposter syndrome. I've admitted as such in interviews before.

I routinely feel I'm unqualified for things at work and in life and somehow figure it out anyway.

It's insecurity I guess, just a very specific kind.

Retired folks who were my mentors that I keep in touch with are still very complimentary of my continued professionalism and worth in my career.

I always thank and/or dismiss those comments, to be polite.

Secretly I’m thinking how fricking low the bar must be in my career world if I’m considered “good” or better.

Then I also remember that maxim of “95% of success is showing up every day”, and I do show up always and I do care about my work. So I guess that is worth something?

Lately, yes. I am not an expert at anything, though I do some things well. I mainly try to get through life now with as little work as possible.

I've accepted my faults, dropped the work ego a bit. Everytime it flares up, I will do something dumb to bring it back to earth.

Just took another job, making less money because I got tired of playing someone I wasn't in the downtown offices.
