Like everything else, including social media, what started as a good thing has turned useless or worse.

You can get reviews from forums. I like Amazon because they have decent prices, but I do scour the web before buying something.

Bingo!! I bought some low priced ($130) Sennheiser phones at the now dead j&r store in N.Y. Got them home and they sounded like shite. In the store it was hard tell since that place was loud.
Looked on Amazon and apparently some deaf people reviewed them because they had an undeserved high average rating.

I don't rely on reviews. I only even look at them for 2 things...hotels and restaurants

I just look for verified purchase reviews and go off those. But then again, I’m not into making things more difficult than they need to be.
