Really is amazing how they can tear shite up. They will push holes in my hard packed gravel road. Elsewhere looks like a tiller came through. I have 130 acres that should be full of turkey and rabbits but nada. Just squirrels and the few deer they haven’t run off. I can feed 200-300 lbs of corn a week and they will go through all of it. I have a sounder of about 10 working through the area currently. I will admit I enjoy shooting and eating them but the little dent I make will not even budge the population downwards. It’s gotten to the point where I won’t let the kids run around the wood unattended as they have come upon a couple boars.

In Texas you don't need a license and its pig season year round.
AR15/10 + suppressor is your friend, preferably not in a 5.56 caliber but something with more punch.

only every weekend (I work 4-10s) and on my 4 weeks of vacation. I hunt in the Tensas NWR area for the most part. I'm not a box stand hunter, either. I usually make a few out of state hunts every year as well on public land.
I'm guessing your point was that they are predators and predators are bad.

Went hog hunting in West Texas with a friend on his lease. We were in the deer blind and my buddy said don’t worry about waiting for the perfect shot, just hit them. A group came out. He counted down and we both started firing at the same time. It was a firing range. We both dropped one pig each and I know I wounded another one and so did my friend. Did not bother tracking them. Pictures with the dead and left them to rot in the woods. Good times.

Think they are in 42 states so far and growing. There was recently a meeting with land owners and the DNR in Montana to try and get ahead of it. They are coming down out of Canada.
Here, we eat what we want of them and trash the rest. Meat is better than deer so we keep enough for roast and such while grinding our deer meat. They've destroyed habitat, farm fields, and caused erosion. I may be one of the few that likes the smell of a wild hog.

Oh they're aggravating, not gonna deny that. I had one eat half a hindquarter off a doe I shot within an hour of my putting an arrow in her. They are a native species and I'm starting to enjoy the lil games I have to play with them. They belong there and I'm glad there is a diverse wildlife population.

Lots of people disagree with me but it pisses me off that the government spent millions of dollars expanding the population of bears.There was a few in Tensas and a few in Atchafalya swamp,spent millions buying land linking the two areas to provide a corridor.Then they import bears from up north,Minnesota I think.
My position is bears belong in the wilderness,they are a huge nuisance in populated areas and we don’t need another nuisance animal.I don’t care if they were native to Louisiana,times have changed.

I am no longer mad at deer, quit shooting them about 10 years ago. but hog is a great sport
best drop shot was a bigun at 180 yards with a 223 in the ear.
most interesting shot was from an airboat 30 miles south of Morgan city.
they cook well if the glands are removed
had an ancient guy up near bay city claim the gonads as the best cut for eating

I always enjoyed wild pig meat. Usually ground up 50/50 with elk or deer, but it also makes good breakfast sausage.

I was able to put 5 massive hogs down via .270 on an afternoon in the deer stand down in Tilden, TX.
At one point, I was looking at 50. It was fun. You sit there, drink a couple beers and they come back to the feeder an hour later. Good times.
