Drove through the smoke plume on I-25. The entire city of Pueblo was the creepy yellow in the photo below. We were actually closest to the fire after we cleared the smoke.
Over 300 acres burned this far. 0% contained. Edit: Over 10k now.
Sorry for the crappy quality. Phone camera through a road-dirty window.

Almost 23K acres now, blew up in hours.
I have a couple of coworkers who have had to evacuate their families.
Need winds to calm so they can use air to fight it.

With the forecast winds for the next few days, this may get there.

The wind was insane. After I saw two different vehicles lose their cargo carriers, I called it a day in Dalhart.

When I was a kid and you had to collect box tops to send off for a cereal toy, Pueblo, CO. was one of the places you mailed them too, Battle Creek, MI. is the other.

Once you get west of Amarillo, it’s nothing but depressing scrubland.

How close are they to Pueblo itself?

It wouldn’t be a bad thing if the fire cleansed Pueblo so they could rebuild

Not a city we ever go to. That said, it is one of the areas that has Republican representatives in Congress from this state.
