Love that show. Nothing better than a b o b marathon on that rare sat/sun when nothing's going on.

I feel like they "got it right" on that show, although at 48, it's not like I'd really know if they did.

Not sure why, but the interview portion of the show makes me cry like a baby. Even the parts that aren't supposed to be sad.

Maybe some budding lsu psychologist (or a real if one posts here) can explain to me why that is.

I'm no psychologist, but it affects me the same way. I think it's the way their experiences come through in their faces and in the tone of their voice. Particularly in their eyes. There's no bullshite. It's obvious that these were special human beings. They were first shaped in childhood by the Great Depression. Then by war. Can you imagine surviving what they experienced, while many men that they loved and respected, did not? What a humbling burden that must be. I bought the series of DVDs and have loaned them out several times to people. The first thing I tell them is, don't pass on the interview disc. RIP Bill. You earned it!

I need to get BoB on blu-ray and watch them all straight through. There was something special and unifying about that generation that I don't think will ever truly exist again. I'm not sure we would ever be able to stand together as a country the way the USA stood together for WWII.

I can't imagine how horrifying it was to go through D-day, Normandy, market garden, and Bastogne.

Just started reading the book last night for the first time because of his death. The definition of an American Hero.
