Wife and I can't decide on which kind of pup to get.

Our yorkie passed away about 3 months ago from a water moccasin bite. Well we've been struggling on our next type of dog to get next. Here's our criteria.
40 to 80 pounds and short hair preferrably. Also good with kids, we have a 2 year old daughter. And we have a big back yard so that's not an issue.
We're currently split between a dalmation and a weimaraner but still looking.
Any suggestions?

Brindle Boxer. Not many better w kids than a cute boxer pup or adult.

Buddy's got a Vizsla and it's a beautiful dog. Definitely require exercise though and might be like a loose cannon inside the house.

Dalmatians are known to not be good with children
Don't you remember when the movie came out? Everyone went out buying Dalmatian puppies for their kids cause of the movie and many ended up at shelters cause they don't do that well with children.

Yeah you can never go wrong with a lab. There is a reason they are always the most popular breed.

We just purchased a Doberman. I have two young daughters and am working with my Doberman to ensure that she is socialized properly.
I can already tell she is going to be a great dog to work with and an even better family pet.

We've read a bit about it. After the movie came out they were over breed in puppy mills and that caused a lot of the temperament problems. They say to ask breeder lots of questions and look carefully at the living conditions of the dogs.
I like vizla's, not sure if my back yard is big enough, I live on 1/2 acre and back yard is fenced in.

My boxer is 8 months right now and my buddy's one year old son loves this dog. They are hyper as all get out but the know how to be around a kid somehow. Really awesome dogs. Will keep you laughing all day everyday
