Laughing because in the mid 60s, jazz fest was actually about jazz music. Then they started turning it into a pop-culture music festival. I hope some of the old guys who protested it back in the 60s are still around to see this clusterfrick.

It’s comments like this that make me think a genocide of everyone over 60 isn’t the worst thing.

You can’t be a Southerner and have not heard of Widespread Panic. Hell, it is hard to be Southern and not been to a Panic show if you are between the ages of 30-50 yrs old.

Either the stupidest post in OT history, or the most brilliant troll in OT history

I'm 55. And Southern. I've heard the name WSP but couldn't have picked them out of a lineup. It sounds like they are the same godawful, shitty genre of music as the Grateful Dead. So, apparently, I haven't missed anything.

Did you seriously put the Grateful Dead anywhere in the same stratosphere as the Allman Brothers? Really? And you are disparaging others' taste/knowledge of music? Or questioning posters' Southern roots???

I never mentioned the Dead. Widespread doesn’t sound anything like the Dead. They are a direct descendent of ABB. The drummer is Butch Trucks son. I never knew a baw from Bama not into seeing some WSMFP at Oak Mountain. I’m not questioning anyone’s roots but hot damn, they are Southern rock icons.

I realize TD has a hard on for WSP hate, but I don't see the hate for them headlining Jazz Fest. They have been playing it for 20 years and are much more in tune with the spirit of jazz than the Rolling Stones or Fleetwood Mac.

It just keeps getting worse and worse. Soon, it really will be Nickleback.

It was just an April Fool’s joke that the Molly Ringwalds would be replacing the Stones.

Now, at this point, their manager has to be waiting by the phone. They could well be on deck.
