Why weren't Baton Rougeans progressive enough to support a Po' Folks restaurant?

Because they put it on Florida Blvd, and by the 90’s that road was a piece of shite.

Growing up, my family liked Po folks. It was the first restaurant that I can remember that offered unlimited soft drink refills

It was located on prime real estate near Fun Fair Park and Cullen's Babyland.

There was one on Airline too. Where the Kawasaki dealership is now north of Siegen.

Fried catfish. Not catfish filets, but bone sucking fried catfish.

I just checked and it shows there are six Florida locations and one Alabama location left.

Checked out the food pics on Yelp and I can see why they didn't make it most places.

Cock of the Walk was kind of the same but better. Just chicken and fish.

There are still aboot 6 locations. The closest one to BR is in Pensacola. Now your kid can have the pleasure of knowing it.

Chime in when you get back.

Waxing it nostalgic i believe. I don't remember it being anything out of this world by any stretch, and BR being a pretty ADHD people when it comes to eating out most surely went “SQUIRREL” and on to their next shinny new “must eat at restaurant” down the street.
