I am a MJ fan, love his music, but MJ was a strange dude.
He didn't like being black and having "black" features. He looked pretty cool before he started changing his looks, but he wanted to get rid of the black features. Big noise, he wanted straight hair and shite..
How are you going to compare MJ's situation to black face?

While I agree with part of this, I think context should always play a role in whether wearing blackface is meant to be racist or not. The problem is that there are many times people have worn blackface and it was only to look like whatever person they were dressing as, NOT to make fun of the person.
When my daughter wanted to wear a dark bronzer so that she would look just like Moana for Halloween, there was absolutely nothing racist about why she wanted to do this. But according to the nutjobs in society these days, she would be deemed this horrible racist and Id get death threats and people wanting to burn her at the stake. Now, if I decided to wear blackface in order to make fun of someone, then yes, you could say Id have racist motives. These two examples are NOTHING near the same but yet according to the crowd thats "offended" by everything, they are.

Ftr, I agree with that premise. I really do. I have no problem with your baby girl dressing up as Moana. Unfortunately, I know that for most people it is a losing battle that is not worth being fought.
Besides, you can dress up as someone without changing your skin color imo. The costume is so much more important than the skin tone I believe.

Making good clean fun? Again, if I wasn't for the incredibly racist history of blackface, there would be no problem at with blackface.
During the minstrel shows of old, individuals would act as "black people", where they would color their skin dark as hell, much darker than black people. They were not having good clean fun, they were depicting black people as savages, huge red lips, dumb, raping white women, etc. They hated black people, and it showed clearly.
Please tell me how the movie White Chicks compare. You can argue whether it was a funny movie or not, sure IDC. But they were having clean fun with absolutely no I'll will or intent. The movie was based off of the "dumb blonde" stereotype. Marlon and Shawn don't hate white people, as you can see plenty of white people were employed in that movie. The same cannot be said for the minstrel shows.
