WHY TOILET PAPER?! (Rant)

I don’t get it, man. I just don’t get it. In an apocalypse situation why the frick is toilet paper the most essential item? Why not shite you actually need to survive like canned goods and water? Hell, most of the world doesn’t even use toilet paper! Get a fricking bidet installed if you’re that worried about cleaning your arse! Like they say, people individually are smart (debatable), but people acting in mass are absolutely fricking retarded.

At this point, it is self-fulfilling.
It started as a joke, but as people went shopping, they started thinking "yeah, I might need TP, let me buy some."
That then turns into "I should go buy TP before they run out."
And it snowballs from there.

Several reasons, for me.
After multiple hurricanes and floods, I tend to keep a 6 mo supply of cleaning stuff, and several months of non-perishable foods. That stuff eventually gets rotated, but topped off when it does.
I also keep a goodly amount of ammo of various sorts, especially after the Obama-era shortages.
So, I'm basically good for a couple months, barring total disaster.
I just very recently bought toilet paper, so it was sorta fresh on my mind. Then I heard about the strange rush on it, and went and bought another big mega pack while I still could. I figure, if it's just "stay at home awhile when not at work", that's one of the few things I don't want to run out of while otherwise living a normal life. Also figure I will continue to take dumps, so it's not like it will go to waste. TP doesn't expire, either. May as well have enough to last.
Now, in the event the world does go to hell, TP won't be a priority very long. But as long as I can sit at home in air conditioning, with TV and internet, the less reason to get out the better.
