You don't think it odd that, should you ever need to carry more stuff, you would skip right over the obvious solution of additional pockets and prefer to augment with an accessory?

I don't find it odd at all

I just really, really hate carrying things around my thighs

also I like my shorts to be 5" inseams, 7" max, and I don't know how many cargo shorts you are finding with that inseam and if you do, how effective the cargo pockets would be anyways

Better question is, do you ever get tired of pissing and moaning?

Still can't resist. Go ahead, respond back so you can have the last word. I know your fragile ego needs that.

That's some short short there. You wear shorts like the pic on the first page from sirwinston?
I think my boxers have more than a 5" inseam. I am kind of tall though ~6'3", and most shorts are several inches above my knees standing up. At 5 inches, over half my thigh would be showing and it would look like daisy dukes. Lol no thanks.

Back then everyone wore tighty whities. You would have to, anything else would hang out. Not my thing, but to each his own.

Just wear a nice pair of cargo pants.

Shorts always look bad.

If they fit well you won't even know you're carrying anything. You always know that a tool belt or fanny pack is there.

Lol jesus man. We're talking about function and needing to carry things. Those shorts barely carry his arse and nothing else.

Why should any man care if some milquetoast "male" hates cargo shorts?

Just tell them to f**k off, and move on.

Walking into any public place, I will have at least a toddler holding one hand, a sippy cup, maybe some snacks depending on where we are going, a few small toys he randomly rediscovered in the car ride to where we are going, and keys/phone/wallet in my pockets. I don't own nothing but cargo shorts, but I'm sure happy when I'm wearing them in this instance. And I'm not going to school nor do I live in the 80's so a backpack or fanny pack is out.

I have a 2 year old as well. If we are going anywhere that I feel the need to pack all of her shite, I'm bringing a backpack.

My wife has a weird obsession with backpacks, so we have many

Not all the time. I thought we were talking about when it makes functional sense?

When I'm working on things extra pockets are a no brainer. Screwdriver, flashlight, pliers, crescent wrench, razor knife, wire strippers, etc all fit nicely in my cargo work pants, and I can still climb, crawl, etc without issue.

If I'm out with the family and we might need a few things, cargo shorts avoid having to lug a bag around. I've never been bothered by carrying weight down my thighs. Maybe I'm used to it.

With the shorts in the pic you posted, you barely have room for your arse and junk. Full front and rear pockets would run the length of the shorts and look tacky as hell.
