Most people are stupid and I image with the limited gene pool in Houma it's worse. I try to avoid bike riding in Louisiana

Houma just painted some bike symbols on the road and called them bike lanes. There is no support for outdoor activities outside of hunting or fishing if you ask me.

Should there be any? It's 98F with 100% humidity. I wouldn't encourage anyone to do anything outdoors in this shite. Go to a gym and exercise, by all means. But frick being outside today.

It would be nice if there was. The majority of the year is fine. When people have to run down the death trap that is MLK Blvd it displays a need.

Agreed. I was in town last weekend and made the mistake of going down MLK. Can't wait till they add more shite to the west side of MLK towards Rouses. I think 80% of Houma was on that road when I was trying to leave Academy

It's bad. If I had to make a list of things I would like to see done in Houma in no particular order it would like this:

1.Remodel MLK like veterans Blvd
2. Hire more police officers
3. Diversify the job market
4. Draw up a plan for running/bike path around the city someone similar to the Trace

Exactly how it should have been from the start.

I did come across two cyclists one morning on my drive to work that were insisting on riding side by side...taking up the entire lane of road and not just single file on the far right of the lane. What made this worse....that section of road is narrowed now to only one lane because of current construction....so you couldn't go around them until you passed the construction. So you are stuck behind them for about half a mile.

Now those guys are assholes.

To be fair, I don't blame them. Could you imagine someone in a truck trying to pass in the same lane as a cyclist? You'd have like 2 feet of space max

I drive an '01 SVT Lightning, the exhaust exits in front of the rear passenger tire. It's not too loud, unless you goose it. If bike riders hold me up much, they get an earful when I pass. Scares the shite out of some of them. Makes me smile.

Eco tourism could and should be big down here but access is limited and the marketing is almost non-existent

So you want hoards of people to explore the threatened swamps? The only way to access most of those is via air boat or gator tail which are equally shitty IMO and tear up everything they cross.
ecotourism is stupid and will only encourage the destruction of what we have left.

Not sure if I'd go full blown tourism. It isn't dynamic enough down here imo. Green energy jobs would be nice but I do not know enough to say it is feasible.

Most of the cyclist in my neighborhood have go pros, all you arse holes that boast of harassing them might want to remember that or we'll be in a 100 page thread laughing at your arse while you seek bail.
