And that's why i was stoked to get married in Shreveport instead of back home in Nola. Was able to throw an INCREDIBLE wedding for about $10,000. That included a church, very nice venue, DJ, second line band to take us from church to venue, nice catered meal everyone raved about and open bar.

At least half the costs of my wedding were things my wife's mom and dad wanted, and they were divorced. Both very successful though. So it was 2 separate lists. My MIL wanted and paid for the expensive band and she wanted a certain venue we wouldn't have had otherwise. Both our families are large. I had over 285 show up, we sent invites to over 350. It wasn't easy to get that low.

Is this where I apologize for having a lot of friends and families? Our wedding was expensive, I never saw the final price. I paid for the honeymoon, rings, and quite a few smaller things we wanted.

That's not needed or for everyone. We could have had a bunch of keg beer with catered BBQ and I would have been happy.

You can thank Disney movies for putting this idea into women's heads that every thing has to be over the top

Chicks. That's the one-word answer.

I have no clue why.

Our wedding cost 75k. (150+ at wedding, 300+ at rehearsal)(Full open bar)

My sisters cost 35k. (half of my wedding attendance with full open bar)

My stepsisters cost 250k+. (This almost couln't be helped as they are extremely rich and very prominent people in politics. Governor and some senators showed up.)(I think there were around 500+ people at the wedding at one point)

I wish they would have given us a choice and put it towards a house or car.
