Why no A or B batteries?

We have AAA, AA, C, and D. Why no A or B? Inquiring minds want to know.

Bonus... Battery drop test... No bounce = good battery. bounce= dead battery..

Seen a B a long time ago. Can't even recall the appearance relative to the others, I just recall thinking "well that's odd" and assuming that there should logically be an A.

ETA somebody posted a pick of the B. Now I recall why I thought it looked odd.

If you went to the store and asked for b-batteries, it would sound like you had a stutter. Hence, there are no b batteries.

That isn't a B in the sense the OP is discussing. That is a B Battery for a vacuum tube.

This is a B battery as it relates to D, C, B, A, AA, AAA, etc.

Similarly, I've been in search of posters "High A" and "High B" on this board.......to no avail.

True, since there are two types of batteries designated as A or B, it is reasonable to assume he meant cylindrical batteries similar to the more common batteries used in electronic components.

The B battery I think I recall seeing was the one like the pic shown. Didn't actually look at the wiki link until after I edited my post.
