Food, fishing, football. Can't think of anything else.

You can say this about all but a handful of areas in the country.

But most of those other areas aren't as unlucky as those whose ancestors decided to settle in LA.

I literally have to pay for plane tickets to get mine to come see me in Dallas.

I moved 3 hours away and rarely got visitors

THat takes nothing away from my statement. But great contribution, as usual.

Also can be said about many other places.

I'd move tomorrow if my SO could/would. Don't want kids so family isn't a big deal to me, nor is being around people I know. And I have a job that I can do from anywhere in the world. Moving away from Louisiana is probably my most common daydream.

It's really quite sad.

shite I can tell you on my dad's side if it weren't for Katrina, they would all still be down in Port Sulphur. I remember as a kid visiting my grandmother that they considered "far north" New Orleans lol.

You seem like a constantly angry person. Or at the least a constantly annoyed person.

South Louisiana is my favorite place in the world. It's not without faults, but what place is? The culture is the most unique in America. We have the best cuisine. The work culture is rather laid back compared to other places. The cost of living is cheap. People here know how to relax, and have a good time. The best fisheries in America are here.

So let me get this straight, Displaced is playing the contrarian in this thread, and you're going to single me out?

OT hive mind strikes again.

You mean cost of living is cheap everywhere outside the NOLA metro area correct?

The weather? So its super hot for a short period. Better than living in Minnesota and shite during the winter.

I mentioned cheap cost of living too, and yes I was excluding New Orleans proper(not the metro because the metro is still pretty cheap).

Weather is awful IMO, but I know some who love it.

Home is home, people like different things. I know quite a few people who enjoy living in La. Lots of outdoor stuff, relatively inexpensive, etc.

Your happiness generally boils down to your efforts to be active and involved. If one thinks they can be happier somewhere else, they will generally be unhappy again. If you are one to go out and participate, yes, more progressive areas may offer more to do, but if you are that type you probably aren't miserable here

I wish I could experience the whole Minnesota winter to see how much it sucks, I'd much rather be cold than hot, but I've never experienced extreme cold for a long period of time.
