Because most people that go to a casino go with a couple hundred bucks. Their minimum bet isn't $300-$500/hand so a number like $10K is not imaginable to them.
And I didn't win $10k, I walked out with 10k. I cashed in $5k.

In the mid 90s I was at a business meeting in Baton Rouge and took the Belle of Baton Rouge shuttle bus from my hotel to the casino. I won $3500 and was leaving the casino around 2 AM when I was approached by security.
Security told me I was being watched by some questionable characters and they advised they would escort me out to my car. They said recently some crooks would follow you when you left the casino and rear end your car a a stop sign or red light. Then rob you when you got out to look for any damage. I told them that I rode the shuttle bus.
They escorted me to the shuttle bus and told the driver to escort me to my hotel room upon arrival. I felt like shite at that 8:00 AM meeting

The Belle is in a pretty sketchy area. I've only been there twice but it's a long walk from the boat to the parking garage. What's sad is seeing little old ladies making that walk at like 2am.

I've walked out with $7,200 in cash. So I imagine if I would have won 3 grand more then I still would have left with cash. I don't know why people don't believe someone would leave a casino with 10 grand in cash.

For someone that cashes out almost a quarter of a million from the casino a year, you don't seem to know jack about the workings of a casino.

I'm guessing that big winners get an escort to their car and then go home.
Thugs aren't hanging out in casinos watching people probably, so they wouldn't know who won money. Probably a lot of people exiting the casino have little money. I guess the thugs should rob people before they walk into the casino. Thats probably the way to go.

Not even close. I do bring in a lot per year but as stated before cashing out $2-3K doesn't mean you won that much.

Actually anything above $1,200 is reported on taxes.

Wayyyy more tech and oversight than there used to be.

on a machine and only on a hand that wins that much. If you hit $500 hands 5 times and cash out with $2,500 it isn't reported.
I don't know how they can report "winnings" on a table game.

You didn't have to do the whole tax thing after cashing out $10k? Usually the casino will provide you with security if you win that much. As for as there being more crime around casinos. Maybe if the majority of people who come out of a casino won money it would be a different story, but the casino is the one usually stealing your money.
