Actually in lousiana its republicans pushing for legalization. Not all republicans.
Besides its still illegal federally. Biden can make it legal if he wanted.

Bingo. This guy gets it. Lobbyist control the politicians. Big pharmacy would lose too much money. Also , the smell of weed is used as probable cause in many arrest. Weed being illegal creates a lot of money in the court system. Don’t see it being legal in many years. Re scheduled maybe.

I don’t think weed should be illegal but I also won’t be surprised when mental health issues worsen over time after it’s legalized.
Weed is more psychoactive than alcohol. I get that most people here haven’t had problems with it but letting everyone with depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, bipolar have access to a psychoactive drug may not be the best thing in the long run.
That being said I’m all about everyone making their own decisions.

I've asked the same thing. Most ridiculous response I've heard:
"Its a gateway drug and will lead to a life of drugs and you will die a heroin or meth addict"

do you randomly breathalyze employees?
no so no matter what you fricks throw out there your argument is bunk.
I can be a meth addict and still have it out of my system before weed.

California may require labels on pot products to warn of mental health risks
“Indeed, many scientific studies have linked marijuana use to an increased risk of developing psychiatric disorders, including schizophrenia. The risk is more than four times greater for people who use high-potency marijuana on a daily basis, compared with those who have never used, according to a study published in The Lancet Psychiatry in 2019. One study found eliminating marijuana use in adolescents would reduce global rates of schizophrenia by 10%.”

He won’t and I was actually surprised Trump didn’t. It’s pretty surprising how many presidents refuse to legalize weed especially how popular it is now.

I don’t have any desire to smoke weed and i think it’s stupid that it’s illegal

I don’t think weed is any more harmful than alcohol and tobacco products, in fact it’s probably less harmful. I just think the same rules should be applied to weed as alcohol. Can’t be at work drunk or high. If you get in an accident, do a saliva or blood sample to look for recent use of alcohol or marijuana. But having no marijuana in your system as a requirement for employment is ridiculous, or to be randomly tested for it is stupid. You don’t have to be clear of alcohol in your system in order to be employed by these same companies, and they’re not doing randoms looking for alcohol.
It just doesn’t really make sense to me. Weed isn’t anywhere close to being as bad as cocaine, pain pills, acid, PCP, meth, and heroin are.

But it doesn’t though, at least no more than alcohol affects you at work the next day.
You ever worked outside with your hands? If you have, you should know that alcohol absolutely affects how you work the next day. There are functional alcoholics but most are worth a shot when it comes to dealing with dehydration or working in the heat.
My thought on the weed stuff is that they don’t have a hard way to tell if you are on it right now. I have asked everyone I know in states that have legal about how workers comp deals with someone that has traces in their system if they are hurt on a factory floor. They might not have smoked for a week but will workers comp cover or tel them to get fricked? If workers comp won’t cover, then who smokes it because most jobs have workers comp coverage with a zero tolerance policy.
I’m personally not a fan of weed because most people branch off of weed to harder drugs or get to the point of hard abuse with weed. I had a guy that was toting an 800 a month weed bill. He couldn’t wake up and put his shoes on without smoking. Weed is very addicting and anyone who says different hasn’t watched people give up everything for it.

Yes

Actually yeah. Every random test I’ve been required to take has a breathalyzer test with it.

I don’t even mess with it often if at all short term and I still think it’s ludicrous that it’s illegal.

I work in the petrochemical industry. It does blow mind sometimes to think weed will get you fired. Yet, if you have a prescription you can take all the pain meds or prescription drugs you want. You are not supposed to take them at work, but come on man!

A Nixon advisor said it was done to dehumanize and target blacks and hippies

I guess the biggest issue then, is differentiating, use in the last few hours, like while at work, or someone who smokes in their own free time, and not on the clock. With alcohol, you can take a breathalyzer test to see if you’re drunk, but they don’t have a way to do that with weed.
It’s crazy though, because cocaine use, which is a hell of a lot worse for you, and a whole lot more addictive, can leave your system in a few days, and you can easily pass a piss test. With weed, I can smoke a joint or two one weekend, get popped with a random in 1 1/2 weeks, and boom, I lose everything. Granted I’m not going to take that risk, but it’s crazy that you really can’t get away with something as harmless as smoking some weed. Much easier to do harder drugs, and get away with it, granted that’s dumb af, but still.

Typical dumbass comment. It's legalized in 18 states. It's only fully illegal in four.

Because it makes people worthless and unmotivated.
