Pricy, poor imitations of Cajun cuisine ain't something to get too excited about.
Sometimes my Dad and I meet somewhere in Beaumont because it about 1/2 way between our houses. He always wants to go to Pappadeauxs even though he lives near Praireville and he passes infinitely better choices before the LA stateline

the closer you get to louisiana, the more depressed the area becomes

Why is the Beaumont/Port Arthur/Orange, TX area so depressing?

Gumbo taste like dish water. Only decent seafood in Beaumont is Robert’s.

Dad worked in Beaumont shipyards back in the 1960’s. He and mom lived in Vidor.
My dad’s brother, Lloyd , co-owned an oil machine/Rental tools building off Walden Road in Beaumont. He did well financially but lived in a small home. Uncle Lloyd’s business thrived during the 80’s.
Construction on the interstate through Beaumont has been occurring since 1987. Nothing has changed in 33 years.
I guess Beaumont’s problem is that it is a town overshadowed by Houston’s economy.

Old Aggie joke:
An Aggie was making out with his date in the backseat of his car. The action and fondling was getting intense when his date exclaimed "Oh, baby, kiss me where it smells bad". So he drover her to Beaumont/Port Arthur/Orange

You gotta get out of town to find anything nice.. hell I grew up in vidor so anything is nice compared to that. I live outside of Bridge city now in the county. There's not a house around me worth less than 300k. We all work in the plants but wouldn't be caught dead in Beaumont or Port author.

I picked up a platter of fried shrimp and catfish from John’s Seafood on Washington some time back passing through, and it was quite delicious.

The house would be worth $650k if they didn’t flood every five years. The whole area east of Beaumont to the river is likely to flood at any time
