Sgt Poole was a black man who kept my 0311 lance coolie arse alive those first few months after landing in Da Nang, to this day one of the most well centered, intelligent and effective leaders I've ever met. I've never forgot him, nor cared one bit about his skin color.
The only difference I've noticed with my young Marine and Army vet friends today is your smarter, better trained, better equipped and just as committed to serve with honor and distinction. I'm exceptionally proud of all our young men and women serving today.
You are what makes our celebration tomorrow possible.
I realize that's not the topic here but is what comes to mind.
Semper Fi to you and all our young folks serving today in every branch.

I think there are many reasons stated. I served, voluntarily. Whomever is POTUS doesn't dictate if you feel an obligation to serve. Honestly, in my time served I got some good shite out of it. But no one was fricking nuts political. All these fat asses telling other people how to respect the flag, etc. - that never served a day in their life can gfy.

People don't want their kids to be part of a social experiment. A lot of people join the military because their dad was in. When I first I had kids I planned on encouraging(not forcing), them to attend an academy or enlisting. No more. I've only been in a little over 10 years and it has changed way too much in the interim. It was even better before I joined. Sick of the bullshite. Our job should be focused on killing people and breaking their shite. No one can stomach that anymore and that's mission creep.
