I absolutely disagree. I used to have this mindset, then I found Flying Fishermen shades on Amazon. $25 for a great pair of polarized shades for fishing or any need.
Do you even have any evidence they're polarized the same? Just because they say polarized doesn't mean they are.

Just got back from the beach and compared my MJs to my son’s Blenders. The Blenders were decent but the MJ were exceptional.

I bought mine in 2012 in Maui. I literally thought it was just a small business kiosk owned by Jim the surfer. True story
I have a pair of Raybans that are probably around 15 years old. My wife is always amazed at how long i keep things without losing or destroying them. They are almost as good as new still.

They're fantastic and not owned by luxottica like Ray Ban and Costas.

Yeah, I just looked that up. Thought for sure they were also owned by Luxottica Group.

Lolz, you think those are polarized (REI)? They're not remotely the same level as MJ
Explain

That sucks to hear because I'd probably have bought another pair when I needed to given how long these have lasted.

"Polarized"

I was a costa loyalist until I got a pair of MJ. The lens quality isn't even close.

I used both the replacement option and the scratch option - great customer service.
Last week I purchased another set and they honored the Memorial Day coupon for 30% off

Best combo of quality and price I’ve found are Sunclouds. Polarization is excellent and they’re around $50 so you don’t freak out if they get lost or broken.

I cannot testify to exact polarization, but I can testify as a gulf coast fisherman they are damn good and get the job done just the same as a pair of CDM's. I used to be loyal to CDM. I have had several pairs of FF's since 2017 and they have held up great. Hight recommend.
But if you're dying to spend $200 for the status symbol, then get in your $100k F250 and do such. But I'll enjoy my savings.

I always find it funny when people go the cheaper route, they just assume the more expensive product is only for status and no way a luxury vehicle or brand can be worth the money.

Yes, $350 is normie "high status" alright

It's about cheap arse sunglasses that only block like 50% of UV rays claiming "polarized" vs glasses that actually block ALL UV rays.
Maui Jim's actually do what they're supposed to do and protect your eyes. These cheaper options mostly do it I suppose.
Really high status sunglasses are in the $$$thousands like Matsudas, not hundred of dollars.

It's funny anyone would think sunglasses that will clearly last 10+ years at a few hundred bucks are a huge cost scam while piling up the garbage Walmart "polarized" versions.

Bajio is putting out nice stuff. They offer both lens types. They plant mangroves as “sustainability”. I love them. I think one of the original Coasta engineers started the company.
