On the Gen X fb group, anytime some dude comes out as trans, it is mostly white women who are giving hearts and thumbs up and leaving comments like "you're so beautiful!"

I’m from the country and definitely not progressive. I even think the term “progressive” is stupid. Not everything is political. Sometimes straight women go to gay clubs because they want to dance and hang out with their friends without being hit on by random guys. It’s as simple as that sometimes. It’s been going on for decades.

Women being able to enjoy a girl's night out somewhat absent from horn dogs hitting on them absolutely agree that's been going on forever a long time and yes a drag show or a gay bar was somewhere that they went to enjoy that girl's night out




no one objects to the freedom to do what you want as an adult, not involving kids,but it become a binary choice, ironically

the label isn't worth arguing about but there certainly is a segment of white women in particular, in the past 10 years, that have turned this innocent pastime into a political statement, without really understanding who's making the statement

Calling it a progressive “era” makes sense. It implies that there is a period of progress, and once that progress has been achieved, the era is over. Just calling yourself “progressive” implies that things can never reach an equilibrium. You always have to be changing everything, which is just goofy because sometimes the way you are currently doing things might be the best damn way to do it. Instead of trying to change it, the best course of action might be best to try to protect the status quo in some circumstances.
Just don’t like the term. Never have.

I don’t disagree there are some crazy women (white or not) out there who really get into these social causes. Women are more social by nature, so that makes sense. Sometimes their concern for these groups is legitimate, and I can respect that even if I think they might be misguided. Sometimes, it’s blatantly obvious they care far more about themselves than the actual groups they claim to represent. In my experience these folks exist primarily on the internet, but I am in my 40s and live in a suburb.
The white women I know are worried about their sons who are struggling in the modern school system. Every other boy I know is diagnosed ADHD. It doesn’t take a genius to understand there can’t possibly be something wrong with 50% of boys. We see the constant access to porn and online gambling coming down the road, and it scares us. Don’t write off all women because I can promise you that nobody’s going look out for the boys out there today more than their mamas. In fact, most of the laws that are being passed banning phones in schools and mandating age screening for social media apps are being led by mothers.
