Why is it still a big deal when McDonald's has the McRib?

McDonald's sells nasty food. In other news, water is wet.

Does anybody really still care about the damn McBarf?

Nah. They know that people wouldn't care about the mcribb if they had it all the time so they only bring it around periodically so that people think that they need to get it now. It creates a sense of urgency. They have studied this to a science and have also experimented with making it a full time menu item. People didn't order it as much. The mcribb is always available somewhere. They base its availability off of geographical area.

It's only available during McRib season. Killing a Mc out of season for their ribs is serious business.

I had one once in my life and I was underwhelmed. I think if I had had it for the first time as a kid I would probably like it now. But I had A LOT of good BBQ before my first time trying it in my mid-20's. Total garbage.

I bought one one just because of the hype.

So what's the meat made of?
Pig innards and plenty of salt. Typically, "restructured meat product" includes pig bits like tripe, heart, and scalded stomach, says Whet Moser at Chicago Magazine, citing a 1995 article by Robert Mandigo, a professor at the University of Nebraska. These parts are cooked and blended with salt and water to extract salt-soluble proteins, which act as a "glue" that helps bind the reshaped meat together.

The McRib was made out of some highly questionable ingredients last I checked...

quote:

5. The entire McRib sandwich contains about 70 ingredients — including a flour-bleaching agent used in yoga mats. As it appears out of the box, the McRib sandwich consists of just five basic components: a pork patty, barbecue sauce, pickle slices, onions, and a sesame bun.Dec 17, 2012
