quote:that’s incredible! And no one could ever say you’re lazy. But why didn’t you lose weight? It may be because our bodies tell us to maintain homeostasis. And while you were creating a huge energy demand on your body, your body is also telling you to replenish itself. Everyone who reads this can understand it, but they won’t be able to understand it’s the same situation where someone who weighs 400 pounds and has a sedentary lifestyle. They have huge demands as well.
Half iron man
Your testament is a great example of how hard it is for someone to lose weight. You are able to do such an incredible feat, but cannot go against the cravings of what your body is telling you.

People who have never truly been overweight have no clue as to the challenges. Just because you can lose 15, 20, 30 pounds over a couple of months... That’s nothing. Obese people go on diets and get similar results. It’s the next 50, 100, 200 pounds over a year, two years, three years that is the challenge. That and knowing that going back to a normal diet will never be an option for them.
For an obese person it’s never just a matter of “eat less, move more”. It’s like telling an alcoholic that they simply need to drink less.

It is not hard at all and I am 45. I started out weighing 289 and am now down to 273. My goal is to get down to 250 before I head home on R&R at the end of August. Would like to eventually get down to about 235. I am 6'4".
I have lost right at 16 lbs in the last 10 weeks and this is with putting on a lot of lean muscle which is more dense than fat (takes less muscle than fat to equal a pound).
One of the biggest things especially as you get older is to eat 5-6 very small meals a day, not 2 or 3 big ones. It will speed up your metabolism. I tweaked a nerve in my neck this week and missed 3 days at the gym (weighed 276 day of injury) and ate like shite those 3 days and still lost weight (weighed 273 the day I went back to the gym).
0700: Egg whites scrambled w/ cheese, 3 turkey sausage links, 1 biscuit (bad carbs), 1 banana, oatmeal (good carbs), v8
1030: Clif bar
1200-1330: Gym
Right after gym: Protein shake, protein bar, and 1 Tb peanut butter
1600: 2-4 oz of Tuna
1930: 2-4 oz beef jerky and 1 Tb of Peanut butter
Right before bed: Casein Protein shake (slow digesting protein)
Workout schedule:
M and Th: Chest and Tri's, 10-15 min Cardio
Tu and Fr: Back and Bi's, 10-15 min Cardio
Wed and Sat: Shoulders and legs, 10-15 min Cardio
Sun: Off day from gym
Sunday is also cheat day on food.
To the guy waaaay back in the thread that said part of his problem is working 65 hours a week in a stressful job, I work 10-16 hour days 7 days a week in Afghanistan. Quit being a fricking pussy and have some god damn willpower!!!
There's is a whole lot of mis information in this thread.
You're using 1970s science and methods.

I’ve already tried to educate him, but you know he’s pushing three bills and eats 50g of sugar a day but he knows better than I do.

LOL this is patently false. Do some research into intermittent fasting.
Also the 6 meals you posted are extremely inflammatory and full of sugar!
The past decade has been the start of a Great Awakening with respect to nutrition, but there are still some powerfully prevailing myths out there: veganism/raw for optimal health (putting aside ethical reasons), "blue zones," blood-type dieting, "many small meals," low-fat, low sodium, etc.

Are you just completely ignorant of the differences in human physiology from person to person? Some people need to buy weight gainer from the pharmacy to gain weight. Do you really not understand that there are people on the opposite end of the spectrum?

I’ve lost 30 pounds since February. All I did was quit drinking sugary sodas, stopped eating breakfast, and I eat healthier low-carb options for lunch and dinner most of the time. If I was more strict and gave up beer, I’d get where I want faster, but still struggle at times.

I had to in high school. If you’re burning so much calories a day, you’ll need to eat that much more to gain or maintain weight. I only gained about 10-15 pounds over 4 years in high school while eating 4000+ calories a day. Swimmers eat more than that just to maintain.
Now if he means just a normal person with average activity rate, they don’t need weight gainer unless they just don’t eat.

You don't need weight gainer. Can it be an effective way to pack in calories? Sure. But you could get the same results and probably better by eating more real food that is calories dense.

Well yeah, but when I used it, I was eating as much as humanly possible. The shakes were an easy way to add 2000 more calories without stuffing my face more and feeling miserable. I stared them junior year at like 145 and started senior year at 160.

Because it’s so much easier to eat more rather than less

What??
That meal starts your metabolism for the day. If you gave to cut out somewhere cut out dinner not breakfast.
