Why is it so easy to type ‘and’ when you meant to type ‘an’?

The letter D is nowhere near the letter N on the keyboard.

Is it something to do with how our minds are wired and how that wiring determines how we type?

Maybe we go on autopilot and just type what we are hearing in our heads?

and why does my phone not autocorrect "fir" to "for"?

who intends to say "fir" so much that such a common word like "for" isn't automatically corrected in its place?
