I don't even warn. I just go straight to discipline and then explain what happened.

100% agree with the OP, wish my wife would get on board with being a parent and not a friend all the time. At least one of us is the a-hole. There's still hope.

Bravo to you for setting realistic expectations for your kids. In the real world you never get what you want. Better to learn that now

Because people like Hillary, C Handler, A. Judd, and George Soros want more snowflakes.

Wife's friend is a single mom, good job but struggling on one income, that's doing that travel ball shite for her kid, who doesn't seem athletic at all and supposedly only wants to do it because other boys are.
frick that shite.

You could extend your argument even further to those who think only having 1 or 2 kids is selfish. Same "kids should be your entire life" mindset really.

With choices comes consequences. I applaud your stance. Your child is learning who he/she wants to be and who he/she doesn't want to be. Give them the freedom they've earned and they will grasp what the world is about...

I really don't understand parents who put up with tantrums. You act like your fricking crazy and you're going to get in trouble

I love giving my kid choices and letting them decide.
"If you do x, you will be punished."
He does x.
He gets punished.
And I matter of factly remind him while he's punished that he chose to be punished.

But I decide the good choice and punishment.

I have 5 kids, 2 being step daughters. Luckily they were only 3 and 4 when I married my wife. They tried at first to act like I wasn't their dad but I made it clear that as long as you lived with me they were gonna mind like I was their dad.

We had some bumps along away. But I was strict and whipped their arse if need be. Today the oldest is going to graduate Tech this fall in pre-vet with a minor in biology. The next one has been a little harder to get through to, but she has gotten her shite together and making it own her own.

They both will say they are who they are today because I didn't put up with no shite from them. They think of me as their real dad.

I want my kids to have nice things. But I damn sure want them to appreciate them, be thankful, and take care of them.

Too many kids are handed everything they want and just tear shite up. And why shouldn't they?? They know momma and daddy just buy them a new one. Kids need to learn that "NO" is not a bad word and need to hear it more often.

Maybe I am an a-hole parent. My kids will be 11 and 13 this year and they don't have any video games.
