If it bothers you say the nationality or say the region. Most people will say the nationality with the Middle East or India / Pakistan and will lump the East Asians and SE Asians together. “ Oriental” went out because white liberals convinced America it was a pejorative. And so now it essentially is.

It's not racist, it is preservation of culture.... And there is nothing wrong with that. **

I am white...
If blacks, whites, Asians, middle Easterners, etc. all race mix, there will be no more races left. Doesn't make much sense to me... How is that diversity?

I'm not disagreeing with you. Simply making a point about what is/isn't socially acceptable.
Posted on 12/3/17 at 8:53 pm to upgrayedd
Who cares what's socially acceptable?
And it's not like I go around getting mad at every interracial couple I see. But if somebody wants my opinion, I'm not afraid to state it.

There is a big debate among black men and woman about whether or not black men should be marry outside of their race. The black women do not think it's right that the "good" black men are wanting to marry white women. It's pretty pathetic and frankly racist, but nobody calls it as such. Go figure.
Is there though? So often on this site I see general statements that are suppose to represent the black population in this country. I am black, with a black wife, kids, and friends. The only time I have ever heard this is when someone posted a tweet from Gary Chambers on the OT.
So perhaps I am just not getting my black people weekly update, or more likely you are just taking a statement from a couple of people and applying to everyone. I would suggest you don't do that.
Idiots come in all races, and they often speak the loudest.

Therein lies the problem.
We can intellectually, scientifically realize that populations developed different traits, different looks, different cultures, different skills, different intelligences...
Through relative isolation. Our lot upon this earth. Through this crucible We developed Culture . We developed who we were, and more recently, who we are.
Except now, through invasion and importation and immigration and integration, the crucible has changed. It’s, as some say, a melting pot. Lots of races and ethnicities and cultures in close proximity.
I could give a long diatribe about all sorts of nuances and recite a bunch of historical stuff, but it really boils down to “is preserving ethnicity and culture good?”
Because if it is it applies across all peoples, broad brush, And if it isn’t it applies across all peoples, again broad brush.
It’s an extremely nuanced topic and deserves its own thread.
Also i’M a little tipsy.

People who think like your roommate's mom are racist, no matter how they try to spin it. So stupid
