And time and time again people post statistics showing countries with strict mask mandates, lockdowns, and near universal mask wearing have the exact same fricking rate of cases as countries with little or no mandates. Or that just about every single person who contracts the disease has been wearing a mask since the mandates started.

And you Masked Covidian religious zealots continue to ignore them.

Why do you have to take it here? He's not saying mask 100% stop the virus.

It’s a barrier protection. Like a condom.

Are condoms porous enough to allow semen particles and sperm through them? If not then no, not like a condom.

A chain link fence will block more particles of sand than nothing at all too. Do you argue that’s an effective practice?

Everyone who breathes oxygen dies. Oxygen is useless. Ban oxygen.

Fact: Cloth face masks are effective. They create a barrier between your mouth and nose and those around you. This makes it more difficult for the droplets that spread coronavirus through coughs, sneezes and talking to reach other people.

Cloth masks mainly keep you from unknowingly spreading the disease to others, but some studies indicate that they may help protect you from large droplets and serve as an indirect reminder to avoid touching your face.

The "mask do nothing" people have been some of the most entertaining in all of this. What you're saying should be a common sense conclusion that doesn't require your knowledge as a doctor

We got some big brain baws here who go to the ER when they get sick but simultaneously say they distrust doctors. Like, what

Did you think this was an apt comparison? Because it's not. In any way.

And of course you completely ignored the fist part of my post, proving that part of the post correct.

This sounds about on par for nursing level physiology

I’m pretty confident that even a non-fit tested n95, worn properly (even for 2-3 months at a time) offers protection to its wearer.

Condom is such a bad analogy on a # of levels. First and foremost, a condom can NOT fit on the recipient bc of basic anatomy. That is not the case for stopping respiratory droplets. In this case the exhale and inhale anatomy is exactly the same.

That is one of my favorite analogues.

If you throw a hand full of sand mixed with marbles at a chain link fence, some marbles will bounce off, but most will make it through.

If you add another layer of fencing offset (another mask), more marbles will be stopped, but almost all of the sand will still make it through.

The problem is not that masks don't do anything, it's that most of the "masks" people use (the openings in the fence) aren't effective enough to even matter.

People have no concept of how small virus particles are compared to the porosity of filter fabric.

What’s really scary is that apparently even includes self-proclaimed ER doctors.
