Why Haven’t We Been Able to Develop a Mask that Protects the Wearer?

From the beginning of this we have been told the mask protects those around you from getting the virus from you. Is it just IMPOSSIBLE to have a mask that adequately protects the wearer? Would the masker wearing 2 or 3 masks IF THEY SO CHOOSE provide adequate protection for the user then the person across from them wearing a mask?
A long time ago, I realized that I SHOULD NOT rely on STRANGERS to protect me from things. The responsibility falls on my shoulders.
We are at the point that Covid vulnerable people have access to the vaccine w/ an extremely high success rate if they choose. If they choose not to then that is on them and not the rest of us.

1. Masks don't work.
2. Even if masks did work, which they don't, it's not the government's role to mandate them.
3. "Wear yours to protect others" is a socialist propaganda tactic.
4. The USA was founded on principles of individual liberty and freedom, not the greater good.

No it doesn't. You ever check out what the folks that work in labs wear when dealing with viruses?
Mask worn in sterile environments keep things like blood out of your mouth/nose and keep a sneaky sneeze from contaminating a sterile environment.
Masks worn in public literally do nothing but trap contaminants near your mouth and nose. Plenty of doctors have spoken out against this. Also, a significant percentage of covid positives claim to have worn masks.

Because mask mandates have nothing to do with protecting anyone or anything.

This was MS Governor’s reasoning for opening up and it was outstanding. He basically said the citizens did what it took to protect the vulnerable until an effective vaccine became available to the vulnerable population. The non-vulnerable did their part and NOW ITS TIME FOR THE VULNERABLE TO DO THEIR PART!

Even the N95 doesn't protect against corona viruses.

Agree to all of this. I’m just speaking to those who claim “science” and masks in the same breath.

Wife is going through nursing school, it says many times in book, materials, etc. you shouldn't cover your face and our body needs to get rid of bad air we exhale, but trust nurses on tiktok telling you what to do.

quote:IF properly fitted and adjusted EVERY time it is worn, The only way to do so is to Fit Test every use by a trained professional. Nobody is doing this outside a hospital setting (probably not even hospitals are fit testing employees all day every day) as most of the trained pros are called Respiratory Therapists and they don't work for free.
n95 does this
Here's a simple self fit test for your n95. Put it on and turn on the natural gas in your house. If you smell the gas, it ain't fitted properly!

It’s a barrier protection. Like a condom. Coughing into a mask is better than coughing into the air in terms of exposing others. Weird hill to die on.

This board would conclude that because condoms aren't 100% effective, they're 0% effective.

not true. if you look at any N95 respirator's IFU (instruction for use) it specifically says it will not stop viruses.

I’ll be sure to tell that to the other docs at my hospital. Thanks baw.

Petty sure 99% effective when used properly

The "mask do nothing" people have been some of the most entertaining in all of this. What you're saying should be a common sense conclusion that doesn't require your knowledge as a doctor
