You are pretty spot on with what you said in a response to mine.

I still believe and have faith in my creator - whoever it may be, but I am not putting any eggs in specific baskets. Especially with what happens in the world on a day-to-day basis.

I've never read it cover to cover. I know JOHN 3:16 and that's my hope.

Historically, because it wasn’t translated to their native tongue until the 1600’s.

I Kings 14:10

quote:

Therefore, behold, I will bring evil upon thehouse of Jeroboam, and will cut off from Jeroboam him that pisseth against the wall, and him that is shut up and left in Israel, and will take away the remnant of the house of Jeroboam, as a man taketh away dung, till it be all gone.

BTW the phrase "pisseth against the wall" apears six times in the Bible.

what is that truth?

trading one hubris for another.

i'm not saying it's bad, but how do you know that you're right? what empirical evidence do you have that we can use to observe this truth?

you're assuming god is not an ancient goat herder on mushrooms. if you want the truth, you shouldn't make such careless assumptions.

I was a devout Christian until I read the entire Bible cover to cover. I'm agnostic now.

Your mileage may vary.

I believe the thread was about why christians never read the bible. But hey...come on in and see if you can't start up a whole other debate and get this thread whacked just like all the other ones on any subject related.
