I read it (maybe not some of those gritty old testement rules). There are some harsh realities for people who take it at 100%

I grew up Southern Baptist and experienced it from birth. Human's religious beliefs are a function of geographical birth and the family into which they are born. All religions point to a deeper spiritual truth. I hold no ill will toward people who hold religious beliefs although I do have a hard time respecting them completely because the majority are just towing the party line. If they were truly intellectually curious, they would come to know that there isn't any "right" religion. They all are just signposts to a deeper reality. The ones who "walk the walk" in any religious belief system are the ones who have tapped that deeper spiritual reality. The dogma is meaningless.

Are we going to reboot the Late Night Bible Study threads?

You've asked a majority about that

a large majority hasn’t read it cover to cover??? Why is that?
that is why we go to church...kind of like sub-contracting it out. We go to church and contribute...in return, we get cliffs notes.

and get taught by a human with preconceived beliefs based on a short life sample to make money spreading stories from long ago.
Seems legit.

Old school Protestants read the Bible. Catholics not so much.

My preacher was an auctioneer in a past life and I can't understand a word he says.

How many hunters have read the state & federal game laws from cover to cover? How many fishermen have read the Federal offshore as well as state laws for fresh and saltwater cover to cover? How many licensed drivers have read the entire traffic code as well as EPA emission regulations from cover to cover? Thank God His word and law has stayed the same through all the years contrary to those of our government

Looking at the five most popular religions in the world: Christianity, Islam, Judaism, Buddhism, and Hinduism. The way to salvation for each of these five religions are so vastly different that only one of the five can be correct. Now, of course you can say all five are wrong but only one can be correct.

Because Christians have a tendency to be ignorant as frick.

Vastly different. Whoo. That's rich.

I read both the old and new (twice), but it took years . Not gonna lie the old can be boring and also a little harsh on gods expectations of people . But believing it and keeping it on your mind puts you at peace, knowing that in the end all be well. Maybe not so much for the “meaningful” sinners
Funny thing is you can apply a lot of what happens today to what was said 1000s of years ago

That is terrible logic. Not to mention you completely don’t understand Judaism.

All created by human beings into a monolithic hierarchical organization with the flavor of the dominant geographical and social culture. I find most large organizations created by humans with a top-down structure to be inherently self serving and corrupt and always with an agenda. I think if more people would investigate the origins of their sacred cows with an open mind they would be much more skeptical in general. And that would be a good thing for the human race.

I’ve been raised christian for my whole life, but have only this year decided to read it cover to cover.....there is sooooooooooo much depth and context necessary to even begin to understand who God is as opposed to the false gospel that everything is great all the time.....
These millionaire pastors and their non-stop profound inspirational bullshite are so incredibly obnoxious and not even close to leading people on a path to true salvation.
