Why have I never been into New Years?

Even in high school and college when I partied all the time I never really liked going all out New Year’s Eve.
As an adult I generally do nothing, friends always have parties but I never go, New Years parties just always seems like a ton of work

It’s pretty common. A lot of people find New Years to be overhyped and forced. Myself included

New Years is the most overhyped day of the year. There's never anything special.

I'd rather stay home with my wife and take her somewhere nice after the new year...Too many fricking drunks out there on the road.

When I was younger (as in my teens and early 20’s) we would build a huge bonfire and invite friends and family over. Once you get into the years of you life where children are in the picture, you will definitely enjoy staying at the house.

I think it has a lot to do with fatigue from Christmas. Just don't have the energy to get hyped up for another holiday less than a week after the biggest one

It’s at the end of a long string of holidays and events.
Thanksgiving. Then Christmas shopping. Then likely some traveling with days off of work. Then Christmas Eve - which often involves additional things like church. Then Christmas Day. Then possibly more family coming into town for the week after.
Then New Years Eve pops up wanting special attention.
I’d much rather take it easy tonight and tomorrow and get ready for the winter work grind to start.
