I’d like to know what they’re bringing in.

Do people actually go to realtors that post that shite?

I’d certainly buy a car from someone who posted it, bc I’d know they’d make a deal.

I made 98k as a car salesman in 2013.

I made 59k in 2016.

It’s topsy turvy.

I was not on FB in 2013, but if I were, I wouldn’t have posted it.

I wanted everyone to think I was barely getting by and the customer was robbing me.

Of course you did, you fricking a-hole.

Seriously though — people hate on car salesmen, insurance agents, and doctors but truth be told we are just doing what we have to do to make a buck. Some of us are better than others at our jobs, that’s all. At the end of the day we have a mortgage, car notes, insurance, and other shite to pay for just like everyone else. Everyone has to eat.

Kinda hard to live a regular life with that much of a swing in salary.

My problem is the act that salesmen put on. Like come on man...just give me your price, no needed for the dance and upside down writing to show me what deals I'm getting. The box is bullshite and we all know it.

I take that as a compliment, and I’m sure you understand

The information is out there if you really want to get a great car deal. If I didn’t take advantage of an uninformed customer, some other salesman would have.

And the word has gotten out, believe me. The customer I talked to in 2018 was a lot more prepared than the one I up’d on the lot in 2012.

It certainly was. You pick and choose which bills you pay, and instead of going out to eat at a nice restaurant for lunch, you’re eating bologna sandwiches.

The toughest part for me was knowing that I was a better salesman in 2016 than the one who made 98k in 2013. I fought harder than ever to make that 59k. I got craftier. I didn’t sell cars, I sold Dreams.

Not as many folks were walking onto those car lots in 2016. The oil field boom ended, and a lot of folks here in South Texas suffered. I learned from this and got out of the industry completely. I had to totally reinvent myself. I never used channel locks in my life, but I use them everyday now.

I see friends of mine continue to struggle in car sales, and for them it’s not about the money. They’re addicted to the next sale. It’s a disease, but there are certainly worse addictions out there.
