OK. Fair enough.

Now let's make all the buildings in Wisconsin have to be able o withstand hurricane force winds like they do on the gulf coast.

Let's also make sure Las Vegas has the storm drain capacity to handle a flash flood that drops 15 inches of rain in 2 days.

Hell, while we're at it, let's make sure every town in America has a tornado siren.

Why spend money on that when the city with the highest annual snowfall total is 2.4 inches?

OK use some existing trucks and buy some goddamn salt. It can't be that expensive.

or three salt trucks for Tuscaloosa wouldn't cost hundreds of thousands of dollars. There are like three bridges. Prioritize those and the other major streets and presto -- the town doesn't shut down.

So Tuscaloosa is the only place that needs it? Not the county, surrounding communities, surrounding counties, or the rest of the state? What about the rest of the south? What about Louisiana, where bridges are just about as numerous as roads themselves?

It’s blatantly clear that it’s not a practical expense in the face of the harrowing consequence of missing a school day or two. If it was doable, governments would do it.

ETA: and yes, two or three snow trucks and ancillary supplies and equipment would easily get into 6 figures in maintenance and upkeep/usage

Twice this year. But before this winter, I'd only seen snow 4 times in my life...and the first 2 times I was too young to remember.

Let me know when the marathons in the south give heat advisories out in 70 degree weather.

That's dumb. Wisconsin never gets hurricanes but the South does get snow occasionally. Don't hurt yourself overthinking this, bro.

But that's just for one truck for one city for one year. What about manteneince? What about the surrounding cities? Why Tuscaloosa? They get 0.1 inches a year...

because the department of transportation's don't have it in the budget to deal with frozen roads. nor do the citizens have the vehicles to deal with it. pretty simple.

Kind of like saying cities in the far south should have standard equipment to handle snow.

Funny you didn't quote Vegas needing storm drains. Or every city needing a tornado siren.

Are you saying tornados can't strike anywhere?

Where I live now (Midwest) the elementary schools close when it gets over 95 degrees in the summer. The news goes all panicky and calls everything a ~~HEAT WAVE!!!~~

Which as Southerners, we should all laugh at.

But it's due to the same reason, not prepared for it. The schools were built without A/C so when it gets too hot they say it's unsafe for the children

I'm in my 40s and I've seen snow accumulation about 4 times in BR. Sure we've had flurries more often but this isn't exactly common

So only people from the south run in marathons in the south?

You're starting to reach pretty damn far. it's okay though. Your statement was stupid and I crushed it.

Snow removal equipment would've gotten uses like 3 or 4 times in the last 30 or 40 years in south Louisiana. Would be a tremendous waste of funds

The better question is what’s the obsession with “bread and milk” during winter weather events. I? mean I? understand it’s sustenance food but surely you can do better than bread and milk? At least maybe something to go on the bread?
