why does it seems people get upset when you pass them on the road?

I can understand if you've been tailgating them awhile, but if you follow procedures, use a blinker, pass them without cutting them off, why?
Had this happen to day, passed a car on 308, they were doing 35 in a 55. I passed them with no on-coming vehicles, they then flashed me and sped up to tailgate me while flashing their headlights.
Only thing I could think was that it was my confederate flag back glass, truck nuts, or the fact I had my 4x4 jacked up, Maybe jealousy?

Yep. I'll have the cruise set, come up on a slower car and move over to the left lane to pass. As I get alongside them, they suddenly wake up or get competitive or something and start to speed up. People are strange animals.

I applaud you for passing. Many around these parts would've followed me a dozen miles while going 20 under the speed limit with multiple passing opportunities.
There's a construction project twinning a two-lane US highway near me, speed limit is 55 mph all the way (dangerous). Yesterday, I thought this Mexican was going to run me off the road for going 55-60. He was just about to lose his shite. Missed three or four passing opportunities, I guess he couldn't see because he was inches from my bumper.
frick all you people who think I should speed because you are late. Same sons of bitches who step on the back of my heels while waiting in line at the store.

No, we think you should speed because unless the pavement is slick it's perfectly safe to go 10-15 over.
What gets people in trouble is not paying full attention. They get surprised by something they should have noticed earlier and that's when speeding can cause trouble b/c they have less time to react.

Happened to me on the interstate late the other night. Had cruise set around 77 and passed a car and got back into the right lane after completion. This car was going probably 60 and decided to speed up after I passed. Got about 50 yards ahead of me and resumed its 60 mph speed. I passed again with cruise still on and the car started riding my arse. If the girlfriend wasn't with me I probably would've messed with the idiot but I just went on about my business until the car decided to slow down until it was eventually way behind. I never understand drivers like this.

I've had people bump me with their cart in a grocery line, I slowly turn around and push it back while saying "do you mind". Screw people like that, allow enough time for problems.
