Why does family guilt trip you when you want to leave on Thanksgiving?

Went over to a cousins house today, something I do every year as my cousin's family loves to host. I was there at 11 (as directed). I ate, laughed, joked, watched the Bears game and the Cowboys game, until 6. I get up and say "Welp, I guess I'm gonna head out. Thanks for everything. It's been real." and get hit with a guilt trip because I don't want to stay and watch the Saints game with my whole family. Seriously got the "Oh, you just came over to eat." speech, when I stayed 4 hours after I ate.

I want to go home, relax, drink and enjoy the game in the comfort of my own home. I don't want to watch it with 30 people, including about twelve kids under 11. Is that too much to ask? Today I'm thankful I only see most of these people once a year.

Preach brother.

Imagine having a spend those hours with 6 know it all kids between the ages of 12 and 15.

Yeah. That’s why I’m solo for the next 3 days

Get dogs. I use them as excuses all the time. They have a "certain" time they need to go out.

This is how I prefer to watch LSU and Saints games if it's not going to be in person. Maybe a couple of people over but not in a big crowd trying to watch on TV.

My issue with watching in a big crowd is that inevitably there are going to be a few people that want to watch/listen and a bunch that don't give a shite and talk over the TV the whole game.

Get drunk and make an arse of yourself and they’ll want you to leave.

They must talk loudly over the game. It is because you’ve got the game on and they want to be sure grandma hears them when she is 27 inches away

When they see that, just say that reminds you of a joke. Then tell them you’ll have to tell him a joke next year because you’ve got to go.

Yeah! I do this all the time. Parties, weddings, family events, etc. Just wait until everyone is distracted by a conversation and slip out. They won't even notice you're gone until way later.

If you get any grief later, it's either "You don't remember me saying goodbye? Damn You musta been having a good ol time" or " shite, my bad, I thought I had said bye to everyone, there were just so many people...ughhhh"

Or on a Sun porch.

They don't care when I go. Hell, everyone else ate on China, I got a chinette paper plate...

If you are a grown man and still have Thanksgiving with your cousins it's time to grow up son.
