lingering cases just increase the workload.
and billable hours too, I'm pretty familiar with how this works

you'd also be surprised at the gross padding of the bill that takes place, not only billing for time not spent on the case or full rates for multi-tasking, but billing clerical work, not done by the attorney, or requiring an attorney(fed-exing, photo copying, etc.,) at full attorney rates, a person would be a fool not to scrutinize and challenge things like this
That will be fifty dollars for me reading that post.

I've had to do a fair amount of educating attorneys over the years, and I'm not a law school prof.

but why does divorce cost so much?
Because it's worth it?

but even amicable divorces can cost a lot of money....
My ex and I parted ways amicably, cost us $250 for a lawyer to write up and file the papers. We split up our money and possessions on our own.
Emotionally it still sucked, but financially it wasn't bad at all.

no, actually my attorneys and I get along just fine, once they've been out of law school a few years, and get some experience, and realize that they don't know it all, and there are a few things that aren't taught in law school, that they can learn, from people that have this knowledge, and it can actually help them at their craft, it's pretty much taking advantage of the resources of having a client that has been around the block a few times, not just his bank account, lawyers are basically among the worst I've seen at resource management, ego I guess, that's a deadly trait in my line of work, but I'm pretty good at it, taking advantage of the skills of all that work for me, including the attorneys
