Why do so many people get knots on their head?

Without injury that is. I think it's little fatty tumors or build ups. Why are they so common? Why do people get them? My neighbor looks like he got in a fight. Says his doctor said it was no big deal. I find that hard to believe, but I do know they are fairly common.

Dad used to call me knot head but that was usually after a dumb action or a slap to the back of the head.

They are called pilar cysts and are very common. Easy to remove
