But I work with people who live an hour away and love only going in once or twice per week.
I have the longest commute in my place, about 20-25 minutes but I enjoy the drive. Good music, views etc.
My wife works from home, she probably didn't leave twice during 2020. Covidians scared the crap out of her. I doubt she ever goes back to her office and its two blocks from our place.

I work in an office. I could work from home if I wanted to. But my work is collaborative in nature.
The people in my office who’ve decided to go the work from home route have become productivity burdens. And they are soon going to find out what that entails.

My wife only stayed home for 2 months in 2020 and she hated working from home. Her commute is 5 minutes though.

Yea guy had zero clue how big of a pain in the arse off shoring anything that isn’t a simple repeatable task is.
Anything that takes some reading and understanding of US law and some advising/consulting is 100 percent better on shored.
Big 4 still hasn’t learned this as they keep pushing India but their client base doesn’t really fit with it unless we are doing some basic filings.
Otherwise, you have to setup calls in the morning us time, give them the task and then send it back and you get questions then a 12 hour turn around.
They are actually pushing more offshoring of what would be staff work to India because engagement metrics say it’s better. Then the budget is blown and metrics aren’t better and they can’t figure out why.

My work is collaborative too, but I don't need to be in the office to collaborate.

Try driving on I10 or I45 during Houston rush hour traffic and tell me how enjoyable that drive is?
I’ve had decent commutes but I still hate working in an open office environment completely!

Screw that

I never used India, but the only thing you can use them for is administrative work like keying numbers from work papers and they still frick that up.

I went into the office yesterday.
1 hour + commute due to wrecks and a 45 minute commute home. Wasted time for me since I'm normally up and online before 7am.

They’re 100% jealous.
ETA I leave early when I work at my office, and I finish up early when I work from home. No difference except the length of the pants I’m wearing.
We have 2 employees still allowed to work from home because of personal reasons.
Both aren't doing much, neither understand with a click of a button we can see they are offline and for how long.
They aren't answering calls in a timely manner and will be fired as soon as their replacements pass a physical.
One logged on from a wifi in Orange Beach. That wouldn't be a problem if he worked as hard as everyone else.

I got the vaccine so I could go back, that's how bad I disliked WFH.
Some WFH people were not called back. They posted pictures of themselves on trails, drinking etc on facebook and workload suffered.

My wife was allowed to continue WFH because I am undergoing cancer treatment.
Even though I don't work from home.

Millennials and Gen X destroyed the working environment by trying to make them fun adult slave pens I mean Adult day cares. I come to work to work, not stare at a stupid ping pong table and slide that y’all would judge for using lol.

Its receive.

Partially. I started treatment a couple months later. I had to get evusheld, which is still being evaluated on top of the vaccine.

You don't think people actually believe you right? You can't keep your story straight on the same page of a thread. Much less through your benders

Where and what do you do for work then? I would love for you to defend these downtown open office hell holes.
