Both aren't doing much, neither understand with a click of a button we can see they are offline and for how long. They aren't answering calls in a timely manner and will be fired as soon as their replacements pass a physical. One logged on from a wifi in Orange Beach. That wouldn't be a problem if he worked as hard as everyone else.
These kinds of people would be just as unproductive and useless in an office, but unfortunately they are a blight on the rest of us who take remote work seriously.

Operations, its a 24/7 facility. When I leave, there's a manager to take my place and I leave it all behind. Don't take anything home (some materials can't be removed) nor do I do any work on my days off. I do my 36 hours a week, go home and don't think about it until the next morning.

Would you like to work in a 9-5 open office environment in downtown Atlanta or Nashville?

My former office got rid of most WFHers when they reopened. Some of those people fricked themselves, some of it was the workload just decreased.
My older brother is a CPA. He's got his own practice, is a CFO for a corporation and teaches online classes (Used to teach at LSU-S) he went in to work as well to escape his tax business. He's introverted as hell, but likes to be at work.
Lots of reasons people prefer working in an office as opposed to home. I'm the opposite of my wife.

I wouldn't live in neither.

They are trying to get them to do first pass credit calcs. I’m like they can fill out a form or patch data if we get it in pieces.
It’s kinda dumb as I could finish the calc in a day or so but instead we are going to send to India, then have them mess it up and the us based team will fix it.

I think we haven’t seen a full revolution in how this will all play out.
Working remotely has become a large bargaining chip for workers these workers.
A lot of companies still have leases or own office space that they want filled to make it worth the cost. If they have an office FHAs holds 50 people and now only 30 come to that office and 20 are remote, it’s bad for the cost per head ratio. They want to get as much into that space as they can.
As companies sort through how many they need in an office they will adjust their space and actually save money by having people work remotely. They won’t need space for 50 so they’ll downsize to hold fewer.
They're foolish if they haven't already renegotiated leases to reduce sqft as needed at reduced rental rates. If the company owns their own building, then downsize the footprint for needed office space and sublease the excess sqft.

Try driving on I10 or I45 during Houston rush hour traffic and tell me how enjoyable that drive is?
I’ll never live more that 10 minutes away from my office again. Life sucked when I worked downtown and lived in Katy

Have worked remotely since Feb 2020.
I go in once a week for a couple hours to say hello.
Working remote is a huge plus if you have kids and need to knock out some chores around the house when work is slow.

Yeah if the job is constant/heavy micromanaging and requires me to be near my phone/computer then an office is better.

Cuz 90% of people are just angry and looking for things to yell at/about instead of using energy on personal development and betterment.

In many cases this has happened but there’s still some adjustment to be made.
The situation is fluid so it’ll take some time.
We’re seeing a revolution in the employer/employee dynamic coinciding with the physical need of the employer to have employees on site.

I work for the government. We've been back in the office since May 2020, however other agencies are still working from home.
An old friend of mine also works for the government in a different agency that is still doing the work from home thing. She's stupid enough to post her everyday life and doesn't do a fricking thing all day during work hours. I'm talking posting herself in bed watching movies, running errands, hair appointment, etc.
THIS is what I'm "butt hurt" about. But hey, your tax dollars at work.
