Ignorance is bliss. Easier to be fulfilled/happier when you don’t know anything different.

Well I'm educated (two degrees) demanding job, mortgage, car payments, food bills, kid etc etc etc etc and I'm stressed out all the freaking time.

My wife is blonde, dumb and doesn't give a shite if the sun comes up tomorrow.

She's happier than me for sure

Simplicity is much better for peace of mind. When you have little to lose, you don't have much to worry about.

You realize not all poor people are leeches of the government. You must not realize that you can still be working poor and not even qualify for many of those programs.

I was poor growing up. We didn't qualify for food stamps(except a brief period when my dad's work cut his hours and he made less). We didn't qualify for medicaid. We didn't qualify for welfare.

We were working poor. Can't afford health insurance and not poor enough to have the govt pay for it for us. My parents just hoping none of us kids got seriously sick. My dad able to pay bills and keep us clothed, housed, healthy, and fed...but not able to save up for his retirement. Or pay for luxuries like braces for his kids once we got older.

I had an ok childhood I guess...but I always knew life would have been much better/easier if we weren't poor.

Studies came out and showed that a person on welfare, with no job, can live at nearly the same standard of living as a college grade making 40k and paying taxes.

There is your answer.

I've got a friend that has more money than his great grandkids will be able to spend, has places in Manhattan, Garden City, East Hampton, Jupiter, Aspen, and probably a few that I don't know about, most of his family is miserable as hell, the guy himself just immerses himself in work, one of his sons jumped off the 17th floor of the MetLife building a few years ago, his other son is just a big fat slob that acts like he's some wheeler dealer because his dad set him up in a business that he just about can't screw up, but he's just a gambling addict whore chaser(nothing wrong with that,) they all stay close to each other and act nice when together because they know where the golden goose is but that can't stand each other and all they do is talk about each other behind their backs and try to out suck up to the old man, it's pretty pathetic

Simple. The rich are generally successful. Successful people almost always strive for more constantly. They also are responsible for more. It's insanely stressful. Add in when people know you are well off they use you more. Poor people have more "real" friends and loved ones I'd guess

I used to be miserable when I made 40k right of college. Now that I make 100k+, life is grand. Exotic travel which I love and saving tons for retirement.

WTF?

Have you ever been on jet skis? Money buys jet skis. And jet skis are fricking fun!
