my point being, to the church goer its probably a visceral emotional response to the moment. Much like it is with those in my comparison. Not really hard to figure out, but I appreciate the OP's subtle shot at religious folks.


FTR, I'm not a fan of such displays of emotion regarding religious experiences. They seem contrived.

and the people doing them look foolish. But to each is own.

Physical gesture is a form of worship. Along with singing and liturgical practices.

Some may do it for other reasons, but it’s rooted as a biblical form of worship.

in early times, waving your hands was a form of surrender in wars, battle, & etc. it shows you are surrendering your life to Jesus.
