Agree.
There are no former drug addicts, just drug addicts who haven't fed their habit in "X amount of time".

We will always be addicts, but doesn't mean you can't trust us.
I never stole shtt before, or did anything dirty and most of my recovered addict friends haven't. What will happen is missing time with work.
But the more time you are away from it, the easier it becomes fighting the itch.
You also need hobbies.

When I hear of someone overdosing on Fentanyl, I feel nothing. God wills it.
Posted on 1/29/22 at 1:19 pm to Dominate308
I can't say I don't feel the same.
But this isn't about that, is it.

quote:Meh, your definition and mine of “heroic” are different.
It’s a very difficult endeavor to overcome addiction. You might even call it heroic.
Purposefully lighting your own family home on fire and then going in to “rescue” your kids is not heroic.
Addiction is, to some degree self-inflicted.

Yeah, it isnt heroic but it should be commended and celebrated.

quote:no, those people are begging for attention, which is part of why they became addicts in the first place. nobody on this planets admits to being an addict 5 years later without being an attention whore.
Because people who are in that situation need support and encouragement?…

I think people missed the point of the OP.
If someone cleans up and stops doing drugs and stealing to feed their habit is that a good thing?
Of course it is.
Is it something that they should brag about ?
No.
You never hear anyone say "I haven't smacked my wife around for 5 years" and get showered with praise.
People would respond with "why did you ever beat her to begin with you pos?"

No.
Idk if I brag, but I talk about my sobriety a lot. I'm very proud of it, and ppl don't understand, but it was a journey.
I loved being in that life and learning that world, and I loved coming out it. I also like battling the demons everyday, sometimes, because it motivates me.
But most ppl who always talk about how many X sober they are and Jesus, are usually relapsing every 3-4weeks and are still PoSs.

People that have cleaned up and are humble and use their experience to speak to schools/youths about the dangers of drugs is a good thing.
That's different than going around bragging about it and getting praised as some sort of hero.

Because coming out of addiction is something most ppl never come out of, yes we put ourselves there, but coming out that hole is honestly the most difficult thing i have ever done.
Most of you soft ppl here have no clue what it takes.
Yeah, those of us who had enough sense not to do drugs to begin with are the "soft ones". Got it.

Time to go to bed and sober up

You’re a douchebag and sounds like you’re insecure that you aren’t getting attention.
They praise the guy because addicts usually have deeper issues that lead to their problems and it’s incredibly hard for them to be sober and it helps them when people are supportive

Good job yay you ……. You finally stopped being a shithead and being a drain on your friends and family because all you ever thought about was yourself.

Tbh, good meth, like good coke, makes me calm just because if it hits hard you feel euphoric.
