There are far worse places to live. It's quite easy to be live a happy, fulfilling life in this area.

I’ve lived in BR for over 30 years and have never had anything stolen from me, never felt threatened or attacked by anyone, never had an issue with schools, have enjoyed low cost of living in terms of income taxes and property taxes, have entertainment of LSU sports, festivals, farmer markets, concerts, and good restaurants. We have a close community of friends and generally people are always lending to give a helping hand even if it’s someone I just met. I don’t understand why there is such a bad reputation of the city.

Most of the people on this board are bitter old ladies.

Glass half empty types that will argue that an area's strengths either don't exist or are actually weaknesss.

I lived in Orleans parish from 1980 until 2004 (minus two years in the 80s when
I was a kid)

I used to say the same thing - we were never broken into - cars, house, etc

Don’t be stupid

It called being realistic. There are lots of good things about BR. If you’re retired, COL is low, you don’t have to worry about schools or workforce, and you can avoid the traffic shitshow, and there’s great food and some nice entertainment. You can live in the sticks a short way from the city also.

Raising a family? Trying to find a high paying job after getting a degree? Wanting a safe place to raise your kids? Let’s not kid ourselves…it’s rough.

You're usually the "crime is lower" guy.

BR is one of the few cities to not have a decrease in the post-Covid spike time period. They're an outlier. One of the Alabama cities (Birmingham I think) is also in that boat.

But, you still have at least six ways to get from one part of town to the other, unlike BR

Yeah this is the case in Houston too. Lots of traffic but at least there are lots of ways to move.

Sounds more like you’ve never been here. It’s a shite hole with a few niceties sprinkled in.

Have you been somewhere else to compare BR too? Just got back from NC. No comparison.

By those standards Montgomery AL is way better...

2.5 hours to nice white sands clean water beach,

3 hours to the mountains

2 hours to ATL and fly anywhere cheaper than MSY

2 hours south to an old city with ok food

3 hours to Jackson, MS...wait a second...nothing really good to the west.

Have you attempted to answer this question after looking at it through a racist point of view?
