Sorry, I was on my phone and so pissed with this. I see it everyday. I am about to call the Police to request a car to camp out at the intersection near the stop. I just do not want to see a kid get run down because someone is looking their phone and texting. I have already seen a guy get run over back in March on Nicholasville Road walking in the middle of traffic at night. The guy died and that scene has not left my head.

At least in NY that's a big big no no.
IIRC you lose your license immediately and your car is impounded.
It's also a PITA here too though because the law makes no differentiation between divided and undivided roads. There could be a barrier between the roadways and you still have to stop. Apparently there are some parkour kids on the buses up here

And by the way what you said was way worse by a country mile. A kid getting off a school bus, is not the same as a kid riding a bike on the road.

Because they aren't a bunch of pussys that obey meaningless laws. Tell your kid to look both ways before crossing the street.

Wait for the cars to finish passing then cross. If they can't get it right then nature has correctly thinned the heard.
