re: Why do parents feel their kids are allowed to be loud in public?

I have 5 kids, the youngest being 5 and I totally agree with you. I try to reign them in although someone's I fail. However, if they are bring loud I'll take them outside and have a stern talking or spank. All the people down voting or saying you don't have kids are either lazy or are bad parents. In the end we don't take the kids out much anyway for this very reason and we don't want to spend $100 on average food when cooking at home is better

There are a few issues here. Yes, there are some annoying kids out there with parents that are lacking in the enforcement department. Those parents should probably be more mindful of where they take their kids and how they act in restaurants. There are also a lot of adults that are more loud and obnoxious in restaurants than any child.
All that said, you are ultimately in a public place, and if any of the predictable annoyances above materially change the quality of your experience, you should find something else to do.

There's still time to delete this post, OP
It's funny to watch miserable parents beat their chests because they have kids.

Planes are tough but anywhere you can remove the child you should. You had the thing, if you wanted a hot meal in peace you should have used birth control or got an abortion. Planes are the exception...hard to remove a child further than the bathroom and that ain't ideal but its better than letting them drive everyone insane.
I have raised 2 of my own and a niece who lost both parents. I have snatched all 3 of them up in a restaurant or a public place and plopped their little butts down in a car seat and let them have at it MANY times. It happens, all kids do it, but simply ignoring it and allowing your kid to impact those around them is irresponsible and speaks volumes about the parents...they are assholes who have no business having kids.

My gripe on planes is parents seem to have lost all sense of polite volume. Most people talk a quietly on planes but we know kids don't naturally do this. They could easily say "hey sport, let's bring the volume down a bit" but instead they just let them talk nonstop as kids do about everything they see while everyone else is trying to exist in peace. It pierces the soul on a 7 am flight.
Crying babies I despise but understand that's beyond anyone's ability.
I suspect airplanes impact the kids hearing and they adjust their volume to make up for it...I know flying screws my hearing up thankfully...they make devices that will prevent almost all outside noise that an individual can use if they are disturbed by noise on a plane...just saying, maybe everyone ought to take some personal responsibility.

Poorly behaved kids are normal...all kids misbehave occasionally. Parents who ignore it are buying themselves a pile of trouble because that 5 year old little boy is going to be nearly a grown arse man in about 10 years and if you didn't get control of him and his emotions at 5 you sure aint going to at 15.

I'm with you. If I made a disruptive peep, I woulda gotten my butt beaten. My sister (16 years younger) roamed restaurants like a wild animal. My parents got old and lazy. There were families at church, with 12 kids, and they were all more well-behaved than my sister. Why? Because they feared their parents and older siblings. Children being disruptive isn't cute.

Your child acting an arse can be beneficial also...my son nearly destroyed a cell phone store one Christmas and normally I would have taken him out of there before he ever got started but those assholes were asking for it...if they had been remotely interested in taking care of customers at any level Id have never let it happen but they had a stack of cell phone boxes stacked up about 8 feet high decorated like a Christmas tree....after about 2 hours of waiting with about 4 other people...the store was empty...and calling him back from that "tree" several times (I had asked them if I could wait in the truck, they said if I left I would lose my place in line) I decided to let nature run its course and of course it did....it seemed like it took about 30 minutes for that display to hit the ground...they had me taken care of and out the door in about 10 minutes after that. It wasn't my proudest moment but they kind of had it coming...

Normal kids make a certain amount of noise but most will settle down for a bit if redirected.

It seems that poorly behaved children are the norm these days. My parents would have beaten me if I had acted that way and it would have been well deserved.
That puts you in a viral video on Worldstar.

4 year old should sit down, shut up, and enjoy their chicken tenders and fries!
Children are a part of society. If you want to avoid children, stay home and eat, gramps.

LOL, yes you were. I challenge you to go to ANY school. ANY gathering of kids. Kids get loud. And when they get loud, they get LOUDER.
Some kids are more annoying than others, though. Your memory is clouded.

All I want is a a couple slices of pizza and a cold beer in a relaxed environment but I guess in today’s world Chuck-E-Cheese ain’t the place to do it. Thanks Biden.
