Why do men wear toupees ?

Saw some dude at the grocery, probably late 50's, wearing a ridiculous looking toupee.
When you wear a toupee people not only know that you're bald, but that you are so insecure about being bald that you are willing to put some ridiculous looking rug on your head.
Few things repel women more than insecurity.
Most men in old age eventually lose at least some hair and nobody even notices, but they notice a ridiculous rug on your head.
So what's their gameplan?
Meet some chick and have her run her fingers through your toupee ?
To never let her catch you with if off ?
It just seems so silly and ridiculous.
Maybe it's easy to say while I have a full head of hair, but it just seems so goofy.
Also goes for short guys that wear shoe lifts & women that wear wonderbras.
Dude, when you take off your shoes she's going to find out that you're only 5'9".
And when she takes off her wonderbra he's doing to find out that those puppies are B's & not D's.
Whatever God gave you just roll with it.

I guess they’re self conscious about going bald?
I have the opposite problem. My hair is as thick as can be and grows super fast. Frankly it’s a pain in the arse.

Did he have on a Caribbean-hawaiian looking shirt and it just looked insane? Kind of an awkward looking fat guy? This guy has been wearing this rug on his head for years. People always get a laugh out of him. He wears a Rolex on one arm and that crazy toupee on his head.

Don't get me wrong, I don't want to go bald.
But if I do I hope I at least have the sense to just own it and not resort so some ridiculous rug.

Being mostly bald is liberating. Cut it with a 1.5 guard and never have to worry about it otherwise.

I didn't fight it, shaved it off and loving it. Never have to worry about my hair. I do have a decent bald head though. Not all men do.

Not at all. My hair is curly and thick. If anything I wish my hair didn’t grow so fast. But it’s rather dull to go through life paying attention to what other men do, wouldn’t you say?

I sometimes think life would be much easier if I were bald. At the first sign of hair loss, it’s all getting shaved.

I know a guy that contracted alopecia areata a few years after college and doesn’t have any hair on his head, face, arms or legs. He used to wear a toupee but it really made things worse. As he got older he just embraced the baldness and seems much less self conscious about being bald. In the end, we all have something that wears out or doesn’t work properly. So be it.

You noticed and then you started a thread about it and then edited said thread to include more insecure ramblings about what men wear.
